Yes, we are still here, the South Cotabato province of the Sox region (not the baseball team, remember?).
I can tell you one thing: the region offers beautiful landscapes, great beaches, lush forests, high mountains (many of them are active or dormant volcanoes) and more. This can be said about the whole island of Mindanao. However, it is not frequented by tourists for certain reasons (especially foreign tourists).
In this and following posts we will visit some interesting places that are not too far from General Santos.
First let’s head to the Sarangani Highlands Garden – a resort on the outskirts of the city – stone’s throw from the fish port.
The resort is similar to the Temple of Leah at least in two areas:
- it is built on an elevated terrain with great view of surrounding areas
- it is a work in the making; there is constant construction going on there
As it has the word “garden” in the name, you can expect to find some flowers there.

The ship on the photo below is definitely not transporting fish to the nearby port. How do I know that? Look at the letters on its sides.
From the resort we will head a bit north and then west – what can be seen there? Find out in the next post.
