Ok, we’re in an archipelago. We should see other islands too..
So next stop on the mission of getting out of the city is Bohol. This is an island located just east of Cebu. There are multiple ferry connections between the port of Cebu and towns on Bohol. Watch out for announcements while waiting for the ferry. Otherwise you may miss it by split second…
The ferry should be here somewhere…
Nope, it’s gone. Along with the luggage.
Luckily, as I said, there are many scheduled ferries. So hop on the next one and two hours later we are in Tagbilaran – a town in the south west corner of Bohol.
Guess what’s on the sign 🙂
Ok, now to find my luggage. It’s super easy because it has been labelled the same way as they do label it on the plane. So now ready to see some interior of the island.
Let’s start with the world-famous beast know as the tarsier. There is a Philippine tarsier sanctuary located a stone’s throw from Tagbilaran.
Do you remember “Where’s Wally?”(or “Where’s Waldo?” in some countries)? Here’s my version of the puzzle: Where’s tarsier?
Philippine tarsier is an endangered species. It doesn’t survive in captivity. This is the reason why this sanctuary was created. This species is another example of an animal endemic to the Philippines. On a side note: tarsiers are much smaller than they are presented on various photographs. They are nocturnal carnivores – that explains the huge eyes in comparison with the body size.
What’s next on our tour of Bohol? Here’s a hint: something for fans of both hills and chocolate.
